Bayonne, New Jersey — December 14 — Road closures in the vicinity of Avenue A and 31st Street were reported by the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management on December 14 as a result of downed power lines and an associated fire. In order to safeguard the public and responding staff, officials had to restrict nearby roads due to the dangerous conditions generated by the incident. PSE&G crews arrived, secured the area, and turned off the local power so that repairs could start. While the Bayonne Department of Public Works helped with roadway operations, the Bayonne Police Department was in charge of traffic management. The multi-agency reaction was organized by city leaders, including Mayor Jimmy Davis. Until repairs were finished and the roads were reopened, drivers were warned to stay away from the area.
