Bayonne, New Jersey — December 13 — Due to the winter weather, Bayonne Department of Public Works workers were busily ploughing and salting roads around the city, according to a December 13 report from the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management. To increase traction and ensure citizens and emergency vehicles could travel safely, crews concentrated on major thoroughfares, secondary streets, and recognized difficulty spots. It was recommended that drivers slow down and allow enough space for salt trucks and snow ploughs to operate. By keeping an eye on the state of the roads and assisting with traffic safety initiatives, the Bayonne Police Department provided assistance. To make roadways passable, city officials, including Mayor Jimmy Davis, stressed departmental teamwork. As winter activities resumed, residents were advised to exercise caution when travelling.
