Haddonfield, NJ — December 4 — Thirty men attended one of Haddon Fire Company No. 1's mandatory live-burn training sessions. As part of its continuous skills and safety program, the department conducts these trainings multiple times a year.
Members were put in controlled live-fire situations during the evolution, which mirrored situations frequently seen during emergency calls. While working in a realistic setting, crews practiced coordinated fire assault, hose line management, communication, and decision-making. In order to maintain operational readiness and reinforce safe fireground techniques, live-burn training is a widely recognized norm in the fire service. Repeated exposure to real-world situations, according to department officers, helps members hone skills, function better as a team, and stay ready for a variety of community issues.
