Gloucester City, NJ — December 2 — An afternoon training session on animal emergency care was attended by members of the Gloucester City Firefighters and Fire Officers. The Mount Laurel Animal Hospital emergency care team led the workshop, which focused on techniques firefighters may employ to save pets during emergency situations. Pet cardiac resuscitation, basic evaluation, and safe handling practices were all covered in the instruction. Additionally, instructors went over typical situations in which responders come into contact with animals, like home fires and medical emergencies, and they talked about how to handle anxious or hurt pets while still ensuring responder safety. The training complemented the department's continuous efforts to train personnel for a variety of scenarios that may arise during EMS and fire operations involving residents and their pets.
