Brooklawn, New Jersey — December 19 — Members of the Brooklawn Fire Company, using Cascade 344, responded to an all-hands home fire in Gloucester City. When first firefighters reported a working house fire that needed more resources, the unit was sent out as part of a coordinated mutual-aid response.
After arriving, Cascade 344 was tasked with providing breathing oxygen to firefighters working in dangerous situations. Under a single command structure, several companies from neighboring departments were dedicated to overhaul, ventilation, and suppression. Extended operations and higher staffing requirements are usually reflected in an all-hands assignment, especially at residential situations. Before the situation stabilized, crews worked on the area for several hours. Information on damage or injuries was not immediately disclosed.
