Attleboro, Mass. — December 12 —A three-family home at 12 Lyle Street had an oven fire that damaged the kitchen, prompting the Attleboro Fire Department to react on Friday morning.

Firefighters discovered smoke inside a second-floor apartment upon arrival at approximately 8:45 a.m. Crews discovered smoke damage to the kitchen ceiling and walls, as well as severe charring to the stove, exhaust hood, and nearby cupboards. Firefighters uncovered parts to check for fire expansion after detecting increased heat behind the walls using thermal imaging cameras. Damage was limited to the kitchen area, and no further spread was discovered.

The Attleboro Fire Investigation Unit concluded that cooking was the cause of the unintentional fire. The residents were safely reoccupied in their units and were not relocated. For over an hour, firefighters stayed on the scene to do overhauls and ventilation. There were no reported injuries.
