Elmer, NJ — November 17 — The Centerton Fire Company reviewed newly installed rescue equipment through a departmental drill. Leandra Kane of ESI Equipment Inc. delivered the training and demonstrated the Holmatro emergency O-cutter that the department will shortly receive. The new cutter will increase extrication capabilities, as members now use a Holmatro combi-tool for emergency door pops in car wrecks. Additionally, the Scrapyard Dog stabilization struts that are currently installed on department equipment were taught to the crews. By securing cars during collisions, the struts increase patient and responder safety. Before the tools are required on disaster scenes, fire officials observed that practical training with new equipment helps guarantee firefighters are familiar with its use and safety issues.
