Carneys Point, NJ — December 4 — With funding from a federal grant, Carneys Point Fire Department & Rescue Squad Inc. continues to staff volunteers in quarters every day of the week. The program increases overall preparedness and enables firemen to react swiftly to a variety of emergency calls. The on-duty crew recently assisted with a mutual-aid response to a reported house fire in nearby Pedricktown. Under incident command, Carneys Point troops collaborated with local fire and emergency medical services to support suppression efforts. The response showed the power of regional cooperation and the importance of having workers on hand at all times, according to department officials. The department intends to continue the personnel program as the community expands and service needs change, with ongoing support from township administration.
