Hopatcong, NJ — November 22nd — In an effort to increase public awareness and involvement, the Hopatcong Fire Department hosted a community open house at its Hopatchung Road station. In addition to meeting department personnel and touring the firehouse, visitors also learnt more about how the fire service operates. Additionally, many attendees had the opportunity to snap pictures with the vehicles and try on firefighting gear.

Open houses give agencies a chance to familiarize themselves with the community they serve and disseminate information about fire safety. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Roxbury co-hosted the event and contributed food and refreshments to make it a success.
