Newton, NJ — November 18th — A reported car accident with entrapment prompted the Newton Volunteer Fire Department to respond at Woodside Avenue (Route 206) and Bristol Glen Drive. Ladder 2, Squad 3, and Newton Fire Captains 812 and 813 were sent to the incident.
Crews arrived and verified that two people were involved in a three-vehicle collision. One person managed to escape on their own, but another was stuck inside a car. Hydraulic extrication tools were needed, despite the fact that early entry seemed easy. In order to securely remove the patient, firefighters removed the driver's side door.
