Although engaging with the community is one of the most fulfilling aspects of volunteering, the New Providence Volunteer Fire Department reminded locals that they would prefer not to respond to an emergency today. The department urged everyone to adhere to fundamental fire safety procedures in order to help keep families safe, because Thanksgiving is one of the biggest days of the year for cooking-related incidents.
Firefighters gave holiday safety advice, such as keeping kids away from hot surfaces, using turkey fryers exclusively outside, and remaining with food. Members pointed out that everyone should have a fun and safe holiday.
