Mastic Responds to Head-On Crash in Shirley

SHIRLEY, NY - At approximately 6:26 P.M. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Mastic Beach FD was dispatched to a reported MVA at the intersection of Doris Drive and Mastic Road.

2nd Assistant Chief Luis Grego (5-13-32) was the first chief on the road and quickly arrived on scene to find two cars that had collided head-on with front end damage. Chief Greo then advised rescue 4 (5-13-4) to block off the road and send their crew up with brooms, shovels and speedy dry to clean up the debris and fluids in the roadway, and also to disconnect the batteries to the cars.

Mastic Beach Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene and checked out the drivers that were involved in the accident. One person was transported with minor injuries to a nearby hospital. Fire Police (5-13-6) helped out with traffic control and all units took up from the scene and were back in service within 30 minutes of activation.
