Egypt Crews Knock Down Upper-Floor Fire, Halting Structural Spread in Monroe County

Pittsford, NY - Egypt firefighters executed an aggressive interior attack early Saturday morning, quickly knocking down an upper-level bedroom fire and stopping flames from consuming a local residence in Monroe County.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 6:38 a.m. on September 5 following 911 calls reporting smoke accumulating inside a home. Arriving companies observed active smoke pushing from the exterior of the dwelling and promptly transmitted a working fire assignment.

Interior attack teams stretched a hoseline directly to the second floor, pinpointed the active fire inside an upper bedroom, and delivered a rapid knockdown. The swift knockdown contained the fire damage primarily to the bedroom space, preventing vertical spread into the structural roof trusses or horizontal extension into adjacent living quarters.

All occupants inside the home evacuated safely prior to fire department arrival. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The early-morning response drew extensive multi-agency coordination across eastern Monroe County. On-scene fire suppression and scene assistance were provided by the Bushnell's Basin Fire Department and the Fairport Fire Department, with medical standby staged by Perinton Ambulance and scene security managed by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Mutual aid coverage companies from the East Rochester Fire Department and the Penfield Fire Company backfilled Egypt stations to maintain district-wide emergency response, while dispatchers with the Monroe County 911 Emergency Communications Department coordinated regional asset deployment.
