Early-Morning Blaze in Vacant Jefferson Avenue Home Brought Under Quick Control

Fairport, NY - Fairport firefighters executed a rapid suppression attack early Sunday morning, bringing a working fire inside a vacant residential structure on Jefferson Avenue under control before it could consume the building.

In the early-morning hours of September 6, the Fairport Fire Department was dispatched following reports of active smoke issuing from a dwelling along Jefferson Avenue in eastern Monroe County. First-arriving companies confirmed a working structural blaze inside an unoccupied home and immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack, quickly knocking down the main body of fire.

Mutual aid companies responded directly to the fireground to support suppression operations. The East Rochester Fire Department deployed a quint to provide elevated master stream and ventilation capabilities, while the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department dispatched an engine company to assist with hose lines and water supply.

The incident necessitated widespread regional coordination across Monroe County. Station coverage and district fill-in duties were handled by the Egypt Fire Department and the Webster Volunteer Fire Department to ensure continuous fire protection. On-scene emergency medical support was staged by Perinton Ambulance and Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance, with scene security and traffic control provided by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Additional administrative and logistical assistance on scene included the Monroe County Fire Bureau, the Town of Perinton municipal services, and the Monroe County 911 Emergency Communications Department, which coordinated regional dispatch and resource mobilization.

No injuries were reported during the operation.
