SHIRLEY, NY - On December 2, 2023 at about 5:55 P.M., officers from Suffolk Police 7th precinct were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Montauk Highway at Plymouth Place. The Brookhaven Fire Department and Shirley Ambulance were also dispatched to the scene.

On arrival, Brookhaven FD 1st Assistant Chief Giuseppe Loiacono (5-3-31) found a two-vehicle MVA with one person trapped in one of the vehicles.

Rescue trucks 5-3-3 and 5-3-4 arrived on scene, along with Engine 9, and crews went to work setting up portable lights and putting tools in operation to extricate the trapped subject. The person was quickly freed from the vehicle by firefighters.

Crews from Shirley, Mastic and Mastic Beach Ambulance were on scene and transported the subject, as well as others who were injured, to a local hospital for further treatment. All FDs were back in service after about an hour or so. The road was closed for a period of time as the scene was turned over to Suffolk Police.
