North Sutton, NH — December 1 — On December 1, in the evening, the Sutton Fire Department responded to a fire at a residential building. Firefighters responded to the call and arrived at a North Sutton residence where there was evident flames coming from the roofline. The volunteer crews, based at 2 North Road, toiled in the bitterly cold winter to start a fire attack and secure a water supply. To stop the spread of fire and shield adjacent exposures, engine and tanker companies lengthened lines and employed deck gun operations. As workers advanced hose lines around the structure, snow and slick surfaces presented further difficulties. As the situation developed, resources for mutual aid were put on standby. Until the situation was under control and overhaul operations could start, firefighters kept up their suppression efforts.
