Chichester, NH — November 25 — On Tuesday, the Chichester Fire Department's Engine 1 was sent to Deerfield for mutual aid at a suspected barn fire. When crews arrived, they discovered smoke and flames, and surrounding buildings were at risk from heat exposure. In order to provide a constant flow to support the attack lines operating at the scene, Chichester men were tasked with operating at a water supply station. Under the Capital Area mutual-aid system, Epsom and Northwood units also responded, bolstering resources and personnel. While firemen sought to contain the situation, coordinated operations helped safeguard more buildings. The response illustrated the value of regional assistance in situations where local staffing or water supply capacities are insufficient. Working closely with nearby towns improves response readiness for all communities concerned, according to Chichester officials.
