Carmel, ME — Carmel Fire & Rescue was called to 38 Munson Way at around 4:11 p.m. on November 25th due to a building fire. When the first units arrived, they discovered a two-story house with smoke coming from the chimney and the roof. Firefighters advanced an interior line and contained the fire to the room of origin with the help of two on-duty staff and mutual-aid organizations.
Suppression, staffing, and incident assistance were provided by crews from the Professional Firefighters of Hermon IAFF Local 5458, Levant Fire & Rescue, Newburgh Fire and Rescue, and Etna Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Before leaving the location, firefighters checked for extension and reported no injuries. With winter heating season approaching, Carmel Fire & Rescue reminds homeowners to have chimneys professionally inspected and cleaned to reduce fire risk.
