Manchester Fire Investigators Conduct Live Fire Test with Partner Agencies

Manchester, NH — November 6 — The City of Manchester, NH Fire Department’s Fire Marshal Division and Engine 4 partnered with the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office – Bureau of Investigations, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission to conduct a small-scale live fire test. The controlled burn aided an investigation into a fire that occurred elsewhere in the state.
The test was performed by investigators to look at possible fuel sources, ignition conditions, and fire behavior. These exercises assist validate or rule out plausible reasons by reproducing conditions experienced during an incident. Live fire testing also develops working connections amongst departments responsible for establishing fire origin and cause. By analyzing realistic scenarios, teams increase accuracy in future investigations that assist community safety.
