Manchester, NH — November 11 — The City of Manchester, NH Fire Department joined communities throughout the nation in recognising Veterans Day, a day dedicated to honouring all U.S. military veterans who served in the Armed Forces. Following the formal end of World War I in 1918, the celebration was first observed as Armistice Day. To honour heroes from all wars, the United States renamed the celebration heroes Day in 1954.
Veterans Day is different from Memorial Day since it honors both living and departed service personnel. Across the country, fire departments and community people take part in ceremonies, flag presentations, and minutes of silence. According to the Manchester Fire Department, a large number of firemen have served in the armed forces, bringing strong collaboration and mission-focused qualities to emergency response.
