Litchfield, NH — November 4 — Jason Nicoll and Sam Malone, firemen from Litchfield Fire Rescue, took part in day two of the four-day IAFF Fire-Ground Survival Course at the New Hampshire Fire Academy, which was organised by the Hudson N.H. Fire Department. The program's main goal is to reduce line-of-duty injuries by teaching firefighter rescue tactics and useful survival skills.
Mayday communications, low-visibility navigation, wall-breach techniques, and self-rescue while wearing full protective gear and a SCBA are all included in the training. Based on national line-of-duty fatality investigations, these developments highlight insights that enhance firefighter safety in actual emergency situations. In order to spread these abilities throughout the department, Nicoll and Malone will return to Litchfield to impart what they have learnt. Enhancing operational readiness and ensuring crew safety on every call are the objectives.
