Jefferson, NH — November 1 — With a combination of emergency responses and community fire prevention initiatives, the Jefferson Fire Department concluded a hectic October. On Jason Avenue early in the month and later on Flaherty Road and Owls Head Highway during storm conditions on October 31, crews responded to many complaints regarding downed wires. Numerous fire alarm activations at Heartwood School, the Waumbek, and homes across town prompted firefighters to arrive. A propane inquiry on Abigail Circle, a check on an unlawful burn on Old Cherry Mountain Road, and a small fire involving railway ties on Turnpike Road were among the other incidents. During Fire Prevention Month, members visited kids at Heartwood School and participated in parades in Littleton and Lancaster.
