NELSON, NH — October 28 — New Hampshire's statewide burn ban has been removed, but according to state regulations, outdoor burns are still only permitted with a valid fire permit. Unless the ground is completely covered in snow, fire permits are needed whenever someone intends to burn brush, untreated wood, or use a fire pit outside. Fires must adhere to state regulations, which include keeping a safe distance from buildings and utilizing only untreated wood or brush that is no more than five inches in diameter. Before starting a fire, residents are advised to examine the current fire-danger conditions, attend to all fires until they are totally extinguished, and make sure the right tools and water are available. In order to protect the community, Nelson Fire & Rescue promotes adherence to safety regulations and permits.
