KEENE, NH — November 9 — Officers of New Hampshire State Police Troop C educated paramedics Keay, Kiniry, and Gosselin from Professional Firefighters of Keene IAFF Local 3265 in basic trauma care. Following an instructional session on responder safety and injury management, participants demonstrated practical medical skills frequently required in high-risk situations. In order to stop bleeding and stabilize patients prior to transport, the drills involved applying tourniquets, placing chest seals, and packing wounds. When firefighters, paramedics, and Troop C troopers react to the same incidents, joint training facilitates better communication and teamwork. In order to maintain responders' confidence and preparedness for potential trauma events in the field, the seminar reaffirmed the importance of regular, cross-agency exercise.
