Tamworth Fire Reminds Community: Permit and Caution Needed

Tamworth, NH — October 28 — The Tamworth Fire/Rescue Department resumed granting permits for outdoor burns once the statewide burn ban was removed. Residents were reminded by officials that before starting any fire, a legal permit is needed. Only the regulations established by the state and local authorities permit outdoor burning, including campfires and debris fires. Despite recent showers, the department stressed that autumn winds, dry leaves and grasses still provide a risk. Permit holders were advised to follow safety precautions, including as keeping a safe distance from structures, removing combustible debris from the area, keeping water or suppression equipment close by, and staying with the fire until it was entirely extinguished. In order to assist prevent any uncontrolled fires, the department requested collaboration.
