Effingham, NH — November 8 — As part of its ongoing Fire 2 "On My Time" training program, Effingham NH Fire/Rescue conducted a practical auto extrication practice. Before starting practical operations, students went over scene size-up, patient care requirements, and safe work spaces. In addition to a demonstration of airbags to demonstrate inflation rates and safe handling, stabilization techniques like cribbing and struts were thoroughly discussed. The training began with hand tools to cut the A-pillar and remove a car door in accordance with New Hampshire Fire Academy regulations. After that, students switched to hydraulic rescue tools to do more cutting assignments. Throughout the program, the department reported high levels of involvement and successful skill improvement. Effingham Fire/Rescue expressed gratitude to Critters Towing for providing vehicles for training.
