Avon, CT — November 8 — Eight members of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department spent Saturday morning at the M.H. Rhodes property conducting optional skills training to support engine company and ladder operations. Crews brought three engines and a ladder truck to the site, focusing on establishing a water supply, pump operations, and coordinating aerial fire attack from the ladder. The session allowed firefighters to strengthen core skills that support effective response during structure fires and other high-risk incidents.
The department noted that this weekend's training was above the required schedule and reflected the strong commitment volunteers continue to show toward readiness and service. Consistent practice remains essential as AVFD members prepare for a wide range of incidents throughout the year.
