Deposit, NY — November 15 —On Saturday afternoon, the Deposit Fire Department and Eastern Broome Emergency Services responded to a reported mobile home fire on Big Hollow Road in the Town of Sanford. Crews arrived to find a single-wide mobile house with several expansions heavily engulfed in flames. A protective approach was implemented to protect neighboring exposures, such as a garage and another mobile home. The garage's siding suffered slight damage from heat, but both exposures were adequately protected.

Firefighters evacuated two huge propane tanks near the blazing structure while suppression efforts continued. Mutual aid was requested from the Windsor, Hancock, and Harpursville fire departments. One occupant suffered burns and was treated by EMS. The mobile house was destroyed, and the reason was determined to be an accident.

Engine 22, Pumper-Tanker 22, Squad 22, and Eastern Broome ambulances 8421 and 8422 all responded. The Village of Deposit DPW supported personnel in installing a water supply and stretching hose lines through the village hydrant system. The New York State Police, Broome County Fire Investigation Bureau, Deposit Lawn Care, and Oralls Garage offered additional assistance.
