Vacant House Fire in Willard

WILLARD, NY - On Friday, November 22nd at 12:39 p.m., fire departments from Ovid, Romulus, Varrick, Interlaken, Lodi and Fayette (FAST) responded to a fire in a vacant dwelling at 4545 Route 132 (Main Street) in Willard. The first arriving unit from South Seneca Ambulance confirmed a working fire. After a search was conducted and utilities could be secured by NYSEG, firefighters took a defensive posture, and heavy equipment was brought in from the Seneca County Highway Department to perform an emergency demolition of the structure. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
