Afton, N.Y. — November 2 — The Afton Fire Department conducted its annual “Hunter Lost in the Woods” training in advance of the New York State hunting season. The drill focused on search and rescue procedures, locating missing individuals, and providing medical assistance in wooded terrain. The training is held each year to ensure crews remain prepared for incidents that commonly occur during hunting season.
The department encourages hunters to plan ahead, remain aware of their surroundings, and carry basic safety equipment while in the field.
