November 1, 2025 — This morning, Rescue 1 and Engine 3 from the Verona Fire Department joined neighboring fire departments in showing their community pride by escorting the VVS Girls Varsity Field Hockey Team as they headed to sectional competition in Camden.

Departments participating in the spirited send-off included the Vernon Fire Department, Vernon Center Fire Department, Sherrill Fire Department, New London Fire Department, and Durhamville Fire Department.

The Verona Fire Department wished the team the best of luck, noting that supporting local youth and community events is an important part of their mission — both on and off the emergency scene.
