Milmay, NJ - Emergency responders from multiple regional public safety agencies coordinated a woodland extrication Sunday morning after a hunter sustained traumatic injuries from a tree stand fall in the woods of Milmay.
Personnel from Milmay Volunteer Fire Company (Station 12-4) were dispatched at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, for a reported traumatic fall. Responding aboard Engine 1241 and Engine 1242, firefighters entered the wooded area and located one patient who had fallen from an elevated deer stand.
Milmay firefighters worked alongside basic life support crews from BLS 12-7 to stabilize and package the injured individual for transport. Due to the rough off-road terrain, responders loaded the patient into specialized off-road vehicle UTV 12-7 to safely extricate them from deep within the woods to an open staging area.
Given the severity of the traumatic injuries, the SouthSTAR air medical helicopter was requested for rapid evacuation. The flight crew airlifted the patient directly to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Center for advanced clinical evaluation and specialized care.
Additional responding agencies assisting on scene included the New Jersey Forest Fire Service (Division C, Section 5), AtlantiCare Paramedics, and the New Jersey State Police.
