Ramsey, NJ - Firefighters from the Ramsey Fire Department responded on mutual aid Friday afternoon to assist borough crews in Allendale after a fallen power line sparked an active brush fire.

Ramsey Tower Ladder 442 was requested shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, to support local units managing the exterior electrical fire.

Upon arrival, operating crews encountered a downed utility line that had ignited dry ground cover and adjacent brush.

Firefighters worked to knock down active pockets of fire while conducting tactical overhaul, maintaining safe standoff distances due to the live electrical hazard.

Crews monitored the area and contained the fire's perimeter until utility personnel from Orange & Rockland Electric arrived on scene to safely cut and isolate power to the affected distribution line.

Once the utility hazard was officially mitigated, Ramsey personnel were released by command and returned to quarters.
