Gordon Heights FD Combats House Fire

In the afternoon hours of Sunday November 2nd 2025 the Gordon Heights Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Wilson Avenue for a reported house fire. While Gordon Heights Chief 5-9-31 was responding Suffolk County FRES Dispatches advised they took in multiple calls on the fire. Gordon Heights Chief 5-9-31 arrived on scene and had smoke showing. Upon further investigation a working fire was transmitted with heavy fire in the attic. Gordon Heights Engine 5-9-3 arrived first due and placed a handline into operation. Yaphank Engine 5-30-9 arrived and placed a second handline in operation. Coram Ladder 1 arrived and started truck company operations. Upon the knockdown of the main body of fire crews started overhaul operations and the incident was placed under control. Mutual aid was provided by Coram Fire Department, Middle Island Fire Department, Selden Fire Department, and Yaphank Fire Department. Units operated under the command of 5-9-30. The fire is currently under investigation by the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshals Office and Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad.
