Island Park Firefighters Knock Down Camper Fire in Barnum Isle.

Island Park, N.Y. — October 10 — Members of the Island Park Volunteer Fire Department spotted a column of smoke coming from the Barnum Isle area. Second Assistant Chief Denis responded to check the source and transmitted a working fire for a camper that was fully involved when crews arrived. Island Park units were on scene within minutes and began suppression efforts. The City of Long Beach Fire Department assisted, and the fire was quickly brought under control.

No injuries were reported. The Nassau County Office of the Fire Marshal responded to investigate the cause. The Oceanside Fire Department stood by at Island Park headquarters to handle any additional calls during the incident. All operations were overseen by Second Assistant Chief Denis.
