Hicksville, N.Y. — October 18 — The Hicksville Fire Department hosted its annual Open House at 20 E. Marie Street as part of Fire Prevention Month. The event included live fire and EMS demonstrations, along with a vehicle extrication display showing how firefighters remove occupants from damaged vehicles.

Families met firefighters, toured apparatus, and received educational fire safety materials to take home. Sparky the Fire Dog greeted children throughout the day, and the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s K-9 Unit provided a demonstration on how dogs assist in fire investigations. Fire truck rides were offered, giving young residents a close look at the equipment used in daily emergency response.
