Firefighters from several Monroe County departments responded to a working structure fire involving a mixed-use building on Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, where flames extended from the rear of the structure into the upper portions of the building.
The Fairport Fire Department was the initial responding agency for the fire, reported on November 2, 2026, in the Town of Perinton, New York. Arriving crews encountered fire at the rear of a building containing a church, apartments and a restaurant.
According to the department, flames traveled up the exterior of the structure and entered through windows. An interior sprinkler system helped limit the spread of the fire before firefighters brought the incident under control.
Mutual aid was provided by the Penfield Fire Company, East Rochester Fire Department, Bushnell's Basin Fire Department, Egypt Fire Department and Webster Volunteer Fire Department. Crews coordinated suppression operations while addressing fire extension and damage to the occupied portions of the building.
Five residents were displaced as a result of the fire. Perinton Ambulance, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Fire Bureau, Town of Perinton personnel and Monroe County emergency communications personnel also assisted with the response.
The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage were not specified in the department's initial report.
