On October 9, 2026, the City of Troy’s Fire Department was dispatched to 3229 7th Avenue for an alarm of fire. Engine one, engine two, truck two, engine four, the rescue squad, medic four and the battalion chief responded to the scene. The callers reported smoke pushing from the roof and windows of the third floor. Engine four arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from the structure and transmitted the signal thirty for a working structure fire. Firefighters made their way to the third floor, where they had a heavy smoke condition throughout the third floor with heavy smoke pushing from the roof. Firefighters made their way to check the second floor and notified command that the first and second floor were clear with no fire condition.
Firefighters deployed an additional hand line into the building as firefighters on the third floor made an aggressive push to the rear of the building where they had a heavy fire condition in the kitchen area. Firefighters were able to confirm that everyone was accounted for from the structure and firefighters began to knock down the fire condition on the third floor. Firefighters on the third floor began to pull the ceilings and notified command that they had heavy fire in the cockloft. Troy firefighters continued to make an aggressive push inside knocking down the heavy fire condition as firefighters on the roof began to vent the scuttles to allow the heavy smoke to escape. Firefighters established a water supply across the street from the fire.
Engine six moved up out of South Troy to Central Station to standby in the center of the city as they were the last engine in-service and as soon as truck one came back in service from their medical call, they called in service. Firefighters notified command that they had the heavy fire condition on the third-floor knockdown along with the cockloft. Firefighters conducted a secondary search of the building and had no occupants located and firefighters on the third floor a short time later notified command that the fire was under control. Firefighters had the entire incident under control and less than 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. Firefighters went back into service about an hour later.
Just after 1 AM on October 10, 2026, Troy firefighters were dispatched to 3rd Street and Jackson Street for another reported structure fire. The caller stated the house was on fire. Engine six arrived on scene and immediately notified command that they had a fire on the exterior portion of a house and they were knocking the fire down. Multiple units quickly arrived on scene and brought the incident under control. Firefighters prevented the fire from burning through any other portion of the exterior of the structure. Firefighters check the basement for any extension while Troy Police Officers investigated the incident.
Due to the quick response of The City of Troy's Fire Department, firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the structure further. The fire is under investigation at this time. No injuries were reported and firefighters went back into service just after 1:30 AM.
