Springwater, N.Y. — October 10 — The Springwater Volunteer Fire Department joined neighboring departments for a school Fire Prevention Day, giving students an up-close look at firefighting equipment and apparatus. Firefighters discussed fire safety, demonstrated the use of hoses and turnout gear, and explained how teamwork plays a role during emergencies.

Students also toured the department’s fire trucks, learning about the tools used for rescue and suppression. The event aimed to help children understand fire prevention basics, from having a home escape plan to recognizing the sound of smoke alarms.
