Madison, N.Y. — October 8 — Volunteer firefighters from Madison Fire Department and Oriskany Falls Fire Department visited Madison Elementary School to help students kick off Fire Prevention Month.
Firefighters met with students in grades PreK through 5 to share fire safety lessons, demonstrate how to exit safely through a window, and discuss the importance of smoke detectors. Students practiced the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” technique and learned why charging electronics in bed can be a fire hazard.
The visit also gave students the chance to explore fire trucks and an ambulance up close, making fire safety both educational and memorable.
