September 25, 2025 — It was a busy day for the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station 914th Fire Department, which responded to two mutual aid structure fires within hours on Thursday.

The first call came around 10:30 a.m., when Engine 8 and Chief 2 were requested to assist the Cambria Fire Department at a working structure fire. Arriving crews encountered heavy smoke and fire from a basement that had extended to the first floor. The 914th crew was assigned as the FAST (Firefighter Assist and Search Team), performing a 360-degree assessment, softening the structure, and standing by without incident. They were back in service after approximately 90 minutes.

Later that evening, shortly after 6:00 p.m., the department was again called for mutual aid—this time to the City of Niagara Falls for a commercial structure fire involving hazardous chemicals. Hazmat 11 and Chief 2 responded, conducting reconnaissance inside the structure to inspect multiple tanks containing hazardous acids. The crew confirmed that no leaks or damage occurred as a result of the fire. They returned to service in just under two hours.

The department commended all responding agencies for their strong teamwork and professionalism at both incidents, ensuring quick and safe resolutions.
