South Windsor, CT - Firefighters from the South Windsor Fire Department executed a rapid vehicle extrication Wednesday morning following a two-car collision that left one driver pinned in front of the Ellington Road Amazon facility.

Emergency crews were alerted shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, dispatching the South Windsor Fire Department alongside the Ambulance Service of Manchester (ASM) and the South Windsor Police Department to Ellington Road. Chief officers (Cars 15, 13, and 10), accompanied by Squad 2, Rescue 5, and Engine 3, mobilized directly to the scene.

First-arriving personnel assessed the wreckage, confirmed a two-vehicle impact, and determined an occupant was mechanically trapped inside one of the cars. Specialized rescue crews deployed hydraulic extrication tools, systematically displacing the compromised vehicle frame and freeing the patient within just minutes of arrival.

The extricated driver was transferred to the care of ASM paramedics and transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. A second patient involved in the crash was evaluated on scene by medical personnel and also transported for further clinical evaluation. South Windsor Police maintained traffic control around the perimeter and initiated an investigation into the collision.
