Brookfield, Mass.—October 20— Firefighters from Brookfield and East Brookfield teamed up for a night of targeted training, reinforcing core skills in both personal protection and structural ventilation. While Brookfield crews stayed indoors reviewing turnout gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), East Brookfield firefighters used the department’s roof ventilation prop to practice ladder work and vertical ventilation techniques.

This type of joint training allows departments to cover essential ground in a controlled environment. Brookfield members focused on the fit, function, and readiness of their protective equipment—an important component of firefighter survival. Outside, East Brookfield practiced essential truck company operations, including safe ladder placement and roof-cutting strategies.
