Athol, Mass.—October 19— The Athol Fire Department, based at 2251 Main Street, responded this morning to assist the City of Gardner during a working fire. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 were dispatched as part of the mutual aid response after an initial alarm was reported at Heywood Hospital.

Upon arrival, Athol crews supported Gardner Fire Department operations at the scene and later provided station coverage to ensure continued emergency readiness within the city. The coordinated response helped maintain effective fire protection for both communities while incident operations were underway.
