Revere, Mass.—October 24— Members of the Revere Fire Department, located at 400 Broadway, took part in a two-week Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training hosted in Melrose. The regional training included firefighters from Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, and Melrose and focused on advanced rescue techniques for downed firefighters.
The group used a vacant school scheduled for demolition to simulate real-world rescue conditions. The structure provided upper-floor access points and a maze-like layout filled with theatrical smoke to mimic blackout conditions. Participants practiced locating and removing a downed firefighter, followed by rope-rescue evolutions to safely lower the victim through a window to ground level.
