Firefighters from the Irondequoit and Point Pleasant fire districts responded to an early morning residential garage fire, where crews encountered heavy smoke conditions and initiated an interior attack.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, on Ellinwood Drive in Irondequoit, New York. Irondequoit Truck 170 was the first apparatus to arrive and reported smoke pushing from the attached garage and living areas of the residence, prompting a working fire declaration.

Point Pleasant Fire District responded on automatic mutual aid with Engine 112, the district chief and deputy chief. Upon arrival, Engine 112 established a water supply from a hydrant across the street and stretched attack lines to support suppression operations.

The Point Pleasant district chief served as the accountability sector officer, while the deputy chief assisted the Engine 112 crew with interior firefighting and overhaul. Crews worked to contain the fire and check for remaining hot spots before clearing the scene.

No injuries to residents or emergency personnel were reported. Mutual-aid units returned to service by approximately 7:30 a.m.
