October 10, 2025 — At approximately 2:21 p.m., the Country Hills Volunteer Fire Company (CHVFC) was dispatched for mutual aid to assist in the Neshanic section of Branchburg, establishing a landing zone (LZ) for a medical evacuation helicopter.

While Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company (48 Fire) and Readington Volunteer Fire Company (32 Fire) operated at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 202, CHVFC’s all-volunteer crew responded to Whiton School, where they quickly set up a safe landing zone and provided fire protection for the incoming New Jersey State Police NorthSTAR & SouthSTAR Air Medical Helicopter.

Once the medevac arrived, CHVFC firefighters assisted with loading the patient into the helicopter, which then departed for a nearby trauma center for advanced medical care.

The operation was supported by multiple agencies, including University Hospital EMS (Newark, N.J.), New Jersey State Police, Readington Volunteer Fire Company, and Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company.

The incident highlighted seamless coordination between fire, EMS, and aviation units — ensuring the patient received rapid transport and advanced care.
