October 15, 2025 - The South Plainfield Fire Department held its annual firefighter memorial service, led by Chief Campbell. Each October, members of the Fire Department and the Exempt Association gather at the firefighters’ memorial to honor and remember their fallen comrades.

This year, the department paid tribute to Deputy Chief Robert Golas, who served for 26 years (1957–1983), and Firefighter William Meixner, who dedicated 12 years of service (1974–1986) to the department and the Borough of South Plainfield.
