October 24, 2025 — Earlier this week, members of the Berkeley Heights Fire Department visited Union Village Montessori School as part of Fire Prevention Week.

Chief Jim Hopkins demonstrated his firefighting gear to give students a firsthand look at how firefighters operate during emergencies. The presentation focused on important fire safety topics, including conducting fire drills at home and identifying safe exits in public buildings.

Fire safety outreach plays a vital role in reducing fire-related injuries and fatalities, and the department emphasized that fire prevention education is valuable at every age.
