October 18, 2025 — The Hackettstown Fire Department (HFD) hosted PL Vulcan Fire Training Concepts for a comprehensive FAST/RIT (Firefighter Assist and Search Team / Rapid Intervention Team) training session. The exercise was conducted at a vacant house in town, with the permission and cooperation of the property owner.
This hands-on class served as both an introductory training for new members and a refresher for experienced firefighters assigned to the department’s FAST team. Throughout the day, participants practiced essential firefighter rescue skills, covering both basic and advanced RIT techniques.
The training culminated in multiple downed firefighter rescue scenarios, allowing crews to apply their newly honed skills under realistic conditions. Members from Company 91 and Company 29 joined the session, reinforcing the strong mutual aid cooperation across neighboring departments.
The Hackettstown Fire Department extended its gratitude to the instructors from PL Vulcan for delivering an exceptional course, and to all participating members for their dedication to improving firefighter safety and readiness.
